UK AOC Newsletter - August 2004

Elections

Our current President, Prof Peter Hill, has decided that he wishes to step down from the limelight and to relinquish the post of President; his retirement from the Presidency will be effective from our next AGM in February 2005.

As Peter enters a period of semi-retirement, this leaves the field open for you to enter the higher echelons of power and you do not even to have been born in the USA.  Therefore, in accordance with our Constitution, we are seeking nominations for the post of President of the UK AOC.

A nomination form is on the Organisation page, which should be returned to the Chairman of the Nominations Committee by 31 October 2004.  In the event of multiple nominations a postal ballot will be held with the result being declared on 31 December 2004.

Symposia

It would appear that despite the small attendance at our symposium we still managed to make a small profit.

The next symposium is the 41st Annual Convention in San Diego from 17-20 October.  It looks like it is Homeland Security top heavy again, but San Diego is a very nice venue so why not go and meet your partners in crime?

It is unlikely that we will be able to hold a classified symposium in 2006, because we will be hosting the European Convention, but this will be dependent on the venue selected by AOC HQ.

Visits

We are pleased to announce the resumption of our visits programme which will be to HMS COLLINGWOOD on 22 September. Attendance is limited to 25, so get your application form in early see Events page.

It is hoped that our AOC Fleet Effectiveness Award can be presented to HMS ALBION during the visit.

The following visit will be to the EWTF BAE Systems Warton on 8 December.
