Bob Andrews beats George Bush and John Kerry to Presidency
In another British first, Bob Andrews became President of the UK
AOC days before the US Presidential Election. No need to object about
hanging chads, Bob was unopposed. Congratulations Bob. Bob will take
over the Presidency at the AGM in February 2005. Only one problem, any
nominations for Vice-President of the UK AOC? |

Symposia
The 41st Annual Convention took place in San Diego from 17-20 October.
The Convention had over 900 attendees, a significant increase over recent
years. Maybe it was the good Californian weather, which attracted people.
Unfortunately, the weather broke and after 182 days of constant sunshine,
it rained for the 3 days of the conference.
In what has to be known as “Jim Bob’s Conference” for the number of
times he was congratulated for organising the speakers, it has to be said
that the Convention papers were of a higher standard than previous years.
Moreover, SPARWAR are to be commended for their classified session which,
although not highly classified, was of great interest.
We were also entertained to the most repetitive words during the
convention in which Stovepipes v Outstanding easily outscored the Red Sox
v Yankees which was also competing for most of our host’s attention.
A final reminder that there will be an AOC sponsored conference “EW/IO
Support to the Warfighter” which will be held at MCC HQ Northwood on 17-18
November. The conference will be classified NATO SECRET. Details are on
the main website at
crows.org. Northwood is probably not as exciting as San Diego but it’s
closer, marginally cheaper, and less rainy so why not come along?
It is unlikely that we will be able to hold a classified symposium in
2006, because we will be hosting the European Convention, but this will be
dependent on the venue selected by AOC HQ.
Christmas Dinner
The Christmas dinner will take place at the RAF Club on Friday 3rd
December. An application form can be accessed under
Events. Do come along, the price has been held at last year’s level at
£30 per head.
Visits
We are, once again, struggling with visits and regret to announce that
the proposed visit to the EWTF BAE Systems Warton is now likely to take
place in February 2005 and the visit to RAF Waddington in January 2005.
More on that in next month’s newsletter.
