UK AOC Newsletter - September 2005 |
Election TimeThe Minutes of the AOC UK Chapter 2005 Annual General Meeting include the following statements: "Bob Andrews had been elected unopposed as President and Peter Hill formally handed over to him. Because of his work for the 2006 symposium, Roger Blackburn wished to be relieved of his role as Executive Officer and there would be elections for that post and Vice President in the autumn". Subsequently, the President appointed Roger Blackburn as Vice President and David Kitching as Executive Officer. As agreed at the 2005 AGM, any full member of the UK Chapter now wishing to be elected to the post of Vice President or Executive Officer should submit their nomination to Peter Nunn, Chairman of the Nominations Committee, at: 1 The Cottages, High Street, Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire HP18 9DS. For the guidance of members, the following is an extract from the Constitution of the AOC UK Chapter: "The Nominations Committee shall seek nominations every September for the Elected Officer's positions falling vacant in the following January. Nominations for the positions of Directors shall be supported in writing by no less than three full members of the UK AOC; all nominations shall be validated by the nominee's agreement, in writing, to stand. Ballot papers shall be sent to the full membership of the UK AOC in October and returned to the Nominations Committee by the end of December. Ballot papers are to be opened on or after 31 December in the presence of all three members of the Nominations Committee and counted; they are then to be retained until the end of the following March. The Nominations Committee shall inform nominees in writing during January of the results of the election; they shall then report to the Annual General Meeting on the conduct and results of the elections". Both Roger Blackburn and David Kitching have stated that they are willing to continue in the posts of Vice President and Executive Officer respectively and will therefore retain these positions unopposed unless an election is called for.
