The John M. Clifford OBE Award

The John Clifford OBE Trophy is awarded to the top EW student going through Weapon Systems Operator (WSOP) training at RAF Cranwell.  Sgt Tom Yates was the proud recipient of the award for 2022, accompanied by an AOC certificate and cheque for £250.  The award was presented by Gp Capt T J Lindsay, Commandant No. 3 Flying Training School, at Tom’s graduation.

The No. 52 AeroSystems Course Award 2023

The AOC UK sponsored the “Best EW Related Personal Project” award for the No. 52 AeroSystems Course was awarded to Flying Officer Charlotte Pauling (RAF) at the graduation ceremony at the Defence Academy on 27th July 2023.  UK Chapter Vice President Jonathan Bramley presented the award trophy to Charlotte.  A UK Chapter AOC certificate and cheque for £250 accompanied the award.

Joint Operational Electronic Warfare Operation Support Centre Award 2022

The award evening took place at the Double Tree Hilton hotel, Lincoln on Thursday 19 May 2022.  This annual event, aptly named the JOSCAs, whilst being an opportunity for the UK EW Industry to recognise deserving members of the JEWOSC community, also facilitated the UK Chapter the chance to commence and present a ‘new award’.  This new award is titled “The AOC Award for Distinguished Service to Electronic Warfare by a Junior Rank” and was presented by UK Chapter President, Chris Howe MBE to Cpl Sam Harman.  The award comprised both an AOC certificate of Distinguished Service to Electronic Warfare and a cheque for £250 plus a JEWOSC trophy.  BZ to Sam.

45 (R) Squadron Course Top Student Award Board

45 Sqn – John M Clifford OBE Trophy

The Top Student Award winners board (adjacent) is now mounted in 45 (R) Sqn, now recording the names of all award recipients.

The opportunity arose on the 24th of March 2022 to finally present the John M Clifford OBE Trophy for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of EW (RAF) to the 2019 and 2020 winners, Sgt Steve Wallace, and Sgt Maddie Elliott. Well done to both winners. Photos below

The trophy was presented by Sqn Ldr Wilde at 45 (R) Sqn and Jonathan Bramley, AOC UK VP, had the privilege of being invited to the presentation ceremony.

Special thanks to Chemring Ltd. who kindly donated the countermeasures mounted on the trophy.

The AOC UK sponsored “Top Student Award” for the No. 51 AeroSystems Course was awarded to Sqn Ldr Liam Taylor (RAF) at the graduation ceremony at the Defence Academy on 28th July 2022.  UK Chapter Vice President Jonathan Bramley had the privilege of attending the ceremony, presenting the award in person to Liam.  A UK Chapter AOC certificate and cheque for £250 accompanied the award.  BZ to Liam.
